Myles Megee

Myles has been a practicing freelance court reporter serving clients in the Kansas City area since 1990.  He is a Registered Professional Reporter, Certified Realtime Reporter, and is certified in the states of Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa.  Myles is a member of the National Court Reporters Association, the Kansas Court Reporters Association, and the Missouri Court Reporters Association.  Myles has served on the board of the Kansas Court Reporters Association for four years, most recently as treasurer.  He also served for seven years as the authorized dealer in Kansas and Missouri for Eclipse court reporting software by Advantage Software.  Myles continues to serve as the Eclipse trainer for the Court Reporting Institute of Kansas City and occasionally leads training seminars for court reporters at state conventions.

For many years, Myles has enjoyed helping reporting colleagues sharpen their professional skills with tips to increase productivity through the use of advanced software features and shortcuts as well as the application of recent technology. Additionally, Myles particularly enjoys sharing friendly advice, based on his own experience, with promising beginners and experienced freelance reporters alike on how to grow a client base of their own.

A chain of events in 2011 resulted in the unexpected opportunity for Myles to start his own court reporting company, followed by the resurfacing of a dream he had of creating a related business that catered to other successful court reporters who wished to start their own court reporting companies. With the encouragement of Candie, his wife, and drawing on the inspiration and knowledge of Paula Babin, who founded Court Reporters Clearinghouse — a well-respected company with a similar business model — Court Reporters Exchange came into existence in July 2012. Our mission is to provide exceptional back-end support services to reporting professionals. This business model helps the successful reporter working for an agency or for a state or federal court transition into an ownership role and can help the solo, independent reporter expand the services they currently offer.

Myles remarks, “It is a real pleasure to see successful court reporters transition into an ownership position, and it provides me with great satisfaction to help them build on their success.”

It is Myles’s top priority to operate Court Reporters Exchange with a foundation of integrity. Myles adds, “Integrity is essential for me.  At this point in my life, I want nothing to hinder my relationship with my Creator and with my family.  I strive to make my life and my actions demonstrate this.”

Candie Megee

Candie brings extensive experience and a broad knowledge base to Court Reporters Exchange from her prior work with four other court reporting firms.  She began as a copy and file clerk for Owens Brake & Associates in Salina, Kansas, when she was 12 and later worked for other court reporters as a scopist and proofreader.  After graduating from college, Candie was hired by court reporting firms in the Kansas City area to help their owners and staff transition to new technology in order to operate more efficiently.

Candie shares Myles’s desire to operate Court Reporters Exchange with a foundation of integrity, and she wants to help ensure that clients have a rewarding experience.

Reporters’ clients have someone they can count on to handle their needs and ensure their experience is positive and professional.
